There's been so much that's happened to us in the years since we started to travel our separate paths, beginning that fateful third year at Salford. That was almost a decade ago now, which means that we've been apart for much longer then we knew each other in the first place. Whilst we could reminisce-a-plenty about our days at Castle Irwell and Bramall Court (warts and all), the beautiful thing about our friendship is how it survived those years in the wilderness. But what happened to you? How did you change so much and yet manage to still be my Tina? Where did this love of abandoned buildings and Urbex come from? When did you learn about the Magical Glowing Rocks?
I hope that by sharing our current lives, we can learn something about those years, while remaining in the present and enjoying it for what it is (something I know to be very important to you). So, I'm going to get my act together over the next couple of days, because I have something I want to tell you about already!
love,
Jan

Ah Janis.
First post and already I'm moved.
My current state of axcitement is a perfect illustration of the importance of your friendship to me. I have no idea what it is that you have to tell me, but already the suspense is tingling. If it's you, then it's important.
You are, of course, correct about those ten years. (Although let's not talk about it in public too much!)
:) -Nah I'm kidding of course. Who are we not to be proud of every single step of our lives.
If I up and down picture posts by the way, I hope you don't mind. I have a tendency to upload so I can edit, then I mess around with the pictures. Sometimes replace them, sometimes don't.
As for urbex and abandonment, they're just another art form to me. No more or no less than the specks of pollen on a lily petal, or the rainbow colours in swirls in traces of petrol on a wet road.
Obvious beauty is all around us. In people, in places... We all recognise the beauty in popular faces, present and past, and I'm lucky enough to be living on the doorstep of a place widely considered one of the world's top locations of natural beauty.
I see the beauty in Audrey Hepburn's face and the sun reflected on lake windermere just as intently as a great many people do. It's hard to explain, but it's as if I feel I have to compete to appreciate those things, because so many other people already do.
I guess I'm just the girl who always went for the three legged puppy or the teddy with one eye.
So while the masses are busy gazing appreciatively at a classic sunset (or Kelly Brook's cleavage), my attention flickers and I'll wander off and notice the bark on a tree (or a smashed mortuary slab). Beauty all of their own I suppose.
Anyway, am I rambling now? I'll go away and let you get a word in. -Oh and ponder over what you have to tell me!
P.S. I'm adding a link, to the NorthWest Urban Exploration Forum.
I joined the other day and they've been SO friendly and nice.
If you have time to have a look, read audenshaw's reply to my frontierland post. Pure hilarity.
